Our Story
In 1933, brothers Meyer and Louis Myers opened Myers Tire Supply in Akron, Ohio. They established the business in a small storefront with a simple slogan, “Everything for the Tire Dealer,” and were dedicated to growing the business with a balance of modesty and strategic foresight.
In 1946, Meyer and Louis founded the Patch Rubber Company and Akro-Mils, the latter signaling their entry into plastics manufacturing—a move that would shape the future of the business.
The 1950s brought a series of firsts. The brothers opened their first domestic Myers Tire Supply branch in Detroit, incorporated their business, and entered the international arena with a warehouse operation in Ontario, Canada. The company’s dramatic and diversified growth also became the catalyst for a name change, and in 1963 Myers Tire Supply became Myers Industries.
Over the decades, Myers Industries continued to expand, introducing new and innovative plastic solutions for material-handling applications. The company also actively pursued strategic acquisitions, including Buckhorn in 1987, Scepter in 2014, and Signature Systems in 2024.
More than 90 years later, the “everything” in the company’s original slogan has taken on a whole new meaning.
Today, Myers Industries (NYSE: MYE) is a leading manufacturer of sustainable plastic and metal products for industrial, agricultural, automotive, commercial, marine, and consumer markets. Its legacy business, Myers Tire Supply, is the largest distributor of tools, equipment and supplies for the tire, wheel, and under-vehicle service industry in the United States. The company continues to maintain its headquarters in Akron, Ohio, employing more than 2,000 at approximately 30 sites worldwide.
